Welcome to LA Hockey Now, your new home for all Los Angeles Kings coverage!
We are here to bring you the latest news, exclusive interviews, top stories, and columns that break down every aspect of your Kings all year long.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Austin Stanovich, the beat writer for LA Hockey Now.
Hockey has always been a massive part of my life and my family’s. As season ticket holders to the then IHL Long Beach Ice Dogs when I was born, my parents introduced me to the sport from day one. Since then, my entire life has been about hockey. Whether it be the countless hours at the rink, in the garage playing mini sticks with my brother or watching with my dad and brother. I’ve always dreamt of a career in hockey, so after an unremarkable playing career, I decided to write about the game I love.
As with hockey, the Kings have been a constant in my life. I've been there from the disappointing early 2000s to the glorious first half of the 2010s and the most recent rebuild. I remember the restaurant I was eating breakfast in when I saw the team had traded for Mike Richards in 2011 and getting the text from my brother that Marian Gaborik was acquired in 2014. Now, I get the chance to cover these franchise-altering trades.
After starting my writing career 18 months ago, I’m excited to continue learning and bringing my unique perspective to King's coverage. Now kicking off my rookie season as an NHL beat writer, I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with the National Hockey Now Network. On a platform with some of the best writers in the business and incredible standards, I can't wait to see what the future has in store.
