After losing three straight games one week ago, the Los Angeles Kings are back to winning ways, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime for their second straight win.

Period One:

After the Kings killed off an early Phil Danault penalty, James Van Riemsdyk opened the scoring for Philadelphia, burying an Owen Tippet feed on a two-on-one.

A little over three minutes later, the Kings tied the game off Anze Kopitar's stick. Just four seconds into the team's first power play, Kopitar found himself open just above the left faceoff circle and the Kings' captain hammered a one-timer past Carter Hart.

The game didn't stay tied for long though, as Wade Allison restored the Flyer's lead just over one minute later, banging home his own rebound on a breakaway.

To cap off a flurry of goals, Kopitar got his second of the period and tied the game at two. A nice interchange just inside the offensive blue line between Quinton Byfield and Adrian Kempe saw Kempe swing behind the net. He then centered the puck to an open Kopitar who beat Hart.

The back-and-forth period ended at 2-2.

Second Period:

As expected, both teams shored up their defense a bit in the second and it wasn't as much of a shootout.

Rasmus Ristolainen put the Flyers ahead 3-2, picking up a deflected shot in front of Pheonix Copley before making a move around the Kings' netminder.

The Flyers held onto that lead deep into the period. But, with a minute and a half remaining in the second, Samuel Fagemo tied the game at three. After some good forechecking by Fagemo and Rasmus Kupari, Blake Lizotte picked up a loose puck and fed Fagemo in the slot. Fagemo then beat Hart low glove.

Third Period:

In the third, both teams looked scared of making a mistake that would cost their team the game and neither found the decisive goal.

The third period did involve an injury scare for Kings prospect Alex Turcotte. Turcotte received a check from Ristolainen behind the Flyer's net that put Turcotte's arm into an awkward position. His arm was crunched between Ristolainen and the boards, causing Turcotte to head straight to the bench in some discomfort.

Given his injury history, this was a big concern for the Kings.

Turcotte would return to the game though, indicating it was just a stinger.

Overtime:

With no goals in the third period, the two teams needed extra hockey.

Philadelphia nearly won the game, after Scott Laughton beat Copley with a shot that rang off the iron. Tony DeAngelo was then fed for a one-timer seconds later that Copley just barely kept out.

Off the ensuing scrum, Kevin Fiala was able to pick the puck up and start a Kings attack. Fiala and Kopitar had a two-on-one from there own defensive blue line to work with.

Fiala carried the puck all the way, eventually electing to shoot, beating Hart on the glove side to win the game.

This was the second straight win for the Kings and one that put them back in second place in the Pacific Division.
