It seemed obvious when Los Angeles Kings forward Blake Lizotte cross checked Winnipeg Jets defensemen Josh Morrisey that Lizotte would be suspended.

And that's exactly what happened.

The Department of Player Safety announced Sunday that Lizotte would be suspended for one-game.

And Lizotte earned that suspension. Whatever reasonings he might have had, you can't cross check someone in the face and expect to play the next game.

It was a dangerous, boneheaded play from Lizotte.

Lizotte is also the last player on the team you'd expect to make that play. His lack of history likely contributed to just the one game.

There's also the precedent set by the league after their one game suspension for A.J. Greer.

The Kings have options to replace Lizotte on the third line.

Based on Sunday's morning skate, it appears that Trevor Moore will replace Lizotte at third line center.

Regardless, Lizotte will watch Sunday's game from the press box.
