Stano’s Daily: Another Overtime & World Championships

Published

on

What a start to the Conference Finals round it’s been.

With the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes going to overtime again on Saturday, all three games so far have required extra hockey.

Matthew Tkachuk was the hero again as he continue his stellar season in Florida.

Tkachuk is the stereotypical playoff-type player, hard-nosed with a physical edge, and he’s paying off for Florida in a big way.

There’s only one Matthew Tkachuk in the league — okay maybe two with Brady Tkachuk — but it makes you wonder if the Kings are missing that type of player in the lineup.

Someone with high-end skill, compete and size. Adrian Kempe is probably the closest to that mold on the roster, but one player isn’t enough.

World Championships:

Carl Grundstrom, T.J. Tynan and Kevin Fiala were all in action recently. With Tynan grabbing a point in the USA’s 3-0 victory over Denmark, Grundstrom grabbing no points in Sweden’s victory over France.

Fiala and Switzerland came away with the upset of the tournament so far, defeating Team Canada 3-2 on Saturday.

Fiala finished with one point in the game.
